anyway, jt was so nice to invite us to his house today for dinner. lol. so the few of us guys, me sihui edwyn karwai happily took a bus down from town. free dinner, and to see old friends again, the temptations were just too great to resist! it was another great surprise to find shengyu and jt's bro already warming their butts on his beds. alright, that sets the mood for the night - a guys' night out, albeit a night out indoors. it was all laughter, and sihui edwyn's usual fun NS discussions. oh and not to forget, karwai's experiences as a fireman-to-be. karwai looks better without hair though, that one im sure.


the dinner was not bad, curry chicken, prawns, mussels, chicken fillet. i had 2 bowls of rice, 'nuff said.


soon enough, after having much fun in the room, the rest decided to catch the movie-of-the-year "kungfu mahjong"! -_-


seriously. o m g. i hope they had a fun time watching the show. im sure you all realised i didn't go watch with them. i just wanna go home to chill.


i wish i haven bought so many snacks and sweets during work.. sighh....

it's been 2 weeks since i first started work. well i've to say that working has really become more like a habit. you wake up at 730am, leave home at 830 and reach workplace at 930am. you make the few calls in the morn all the way to 1230pm, 1 hour of lunch break, followed by more calls. on days where there are few calls, you are made to do brainless filing work. woohoo. and you get paid to do brainless work. routines, routines and more routines.


my colleagues are not too bad. there's one guy in the same dept who always have sth to say, that makes it less quiet and awkward. well, it's of little surprise that me and the other new temp are the youngest amongst all the other employees. and as temps, ppl from the other dept hardly come to disturb you. you are kinda like a nobody, but then afterall, you're still a temp staff.


i've grown to like my seat more, although it's really right in front. makes me feel a little uncomfortable when i sms or just slack around. in addition, my computer has no internet access, how cool is that. so all i can do to waste time is either to stone, or to play around with driver's contacts. see how they look like, whether they are married and stuffs. my job, seriously, aint challenging at all. i need to give my brain a good workout or im sure i wouldnt even be able to computer 1+1 = 2. oh and not to forget, i think i've spoken more chinese than the 2 yrs i spent in NJ. well, my spoken chinese just suck, but im glad the cabbies could comprehend my stuttering mandarin. some of them speaks to me in hokkien, and i'll reply either in chinese or english. im just afraid to speak my dialect, although im sure im capable of speaking some basic hokkien. lol.


but past the mundane worklife, more often than not, the only reprieve is the soft and comfy bed awaiting me at home.


and i've to remind myself to tell my supervisor to give me a one week early release. HOPEFULLY, the last friday of march would be my last day of work. 2 weeks of freedom before NS is really, really, precious.. sigh

I no longer feel as bored as on the first day of work. i guess i'm finally getting the hang of my job. doing 40, 50 calls a day is no longer a problem. i can usually finish them all half an hour before work ends! then, i also learnt that my 4 supervisors have very unique personalities, and also in the way they handle problems. the nicest supervisor sits beside me now! haha.


however, my better mood is simply marred by a cab driver today. sorry anitha. but the driver who scolded me today is an indian. HE'S SO FRIGGIN UNREASONABLE. and i cant scold him in return. he said, " FUCK YOU". and before that he spouted many expletives. and for the third time in 3 days, he said at the start, "Don't get me frustrated, justin". obviously, i got rather pissed off by his incessant comments, and merely replied with data from the database. ONE MORE TIME I TELL YOU, MR (LONG NAME), i'm gonna make sure your cab gets repossessed, and your contract TERMINATED.


anyway, i learnt a bit from my job. cab drivers really do not earn much, and i feel for them whenever i remind them of their debts. some of them earn like 50 100 bucks a day only, upon settling their rentals, they would be left with almost nothing. i do pity them, but then again my job is still to get them to pay rentals =s


i'm looking forward to getting my pay soon!


and yay, i can finally eat dinner out tomorrow! =)

sadly, my job isn't as interesting as i initially thought it would be. it's actually really boring, tedious and tiring. not that i've to exert myself physically though. calling taxi drivers up is hardly an easy job. firstly, i can't just call the number shown on the excel file, i've to check call logs, outstanding payments before i can dial the number. that process kills brain cells, seriously. it's not the simple math involved, it's the constant back-and-forth process of checking details that kills you.


my first day was quite rotten.


and there was this once the supervisor was standing behind me stealthily. yea, as expected, i made a mistake. she sorta questioned me about my mistakes after the call, and rattled on.


was talking to the other new guy, and i supposed he felt the same way too. fire me please, like after one month! nvm. i'll see how it goes..... maybe few days later, it'll turn out fine? lol.

i suddenly remembered that i caught the movie "stranger than fiction" on friday. it seems that it's been so long since i last blogged about a movie that i watched? but that doesn't mean i haven't been watching movies in the theatre. it's just laziness catching up on me.


so stranger than fiction. this movie's ending its run very soon, but the story's really quite interesting and yea, outright fictional. the plot basically is based on the premis of a guy's life (harold) which is being written out by an author, in REAL time. and the author is at the brink of ending his life. irony is that, she's undergoing some sort of writer's block which is preventing her from killing him. so the movie continues on from that.


cool plot huh. but the movie's rather draggy, and sleep-inducing at times. though there were certain funny parts where i laughed my ass out. oh btw, will ferrell's the lead- comedy assured. lol. it's watchable still =)


talking about writer's block, i think i'm guilty myself. i can't seem to be able to churn out an entry of decent length. lack of creativity or just plain laziness, i really have no idea. i just know that i'm gonna start work on monday! fact is, i'm getting quite broke. FOR THE FIRST TIME since a long time, my wallet's running out of reddddddddd notes. ARGH.

after 1 month plus of waiting and searching for a job, i've finally got one. and it's confirmed! so for the next 3 months =s, i'll be working for SMRT Taxi company as a temp credit control officer. sounds cool eh? hahah. but i have a feeling it's gonna be doing lots of shit work. nvm, at least i've finally found a way to spend my time more fruitfully, instead of stoning at home =)


work starts on monday, and i cant wait for monday! oh and yar, i would have to travel to woodlands EVERY WEEKDAY. 2 hours of travelling time everyday. arghhhh.

i think it's really funny when you consider how coincidental some things can be. like today, on a tuesday night at esplanade rooftop. guess who i saw?? xinlin and kaisiang! but it was nice seeing them also, had a nice chat with the two of them. kaisiang's enlisting real soon (this friday). wish you all the best man! i'm sure it's gonna be fun, just that perhaps, you wont be able to meet up with your old friends as frequently anymore?


xinlin's got a job too. oh well, i think i'm quite unlucky when it comes to job hunting. my latest was some promoter, yea i went for the interview, but haven heard from them ever since. you all are gonna laugh and roll on the floor if you all know what i'm supposed to promote. so to prevent that from happening, i wont reveal it. LOL. apparently, the many job agencies i've been to hates me. the only news from them are usually "NO NEWS". so i guess it's all up to me now. i'm gonna look for jobs in the newspapers! argh. hopefully i won't be lazy this time. sometimes, you cant always depend on others, ultimately you lead your own life.


then again, life's not always unfair. despite the frustrations that arise from being unemployed, happiness is usually just a short walk away, literally =)

my router's sure driving me crazy. it's screwing up. and that's not the way it should be considering it's one of the most common and widely-used model. i couldn't download my files smoothly, my other desktop computer can't connect to the internet. and the wireless network's screwing up! oh man. so much for a brand new year.


well on the brighter side, i've almost got a new job! just gotta sign the contract tmr and everything's settled. alright. jing tat better not pangseh me tmr.
